Mark Zirnheld

Mark Zirnheld, Chief Executive Officer at Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Buffalo.
Born in Buffalo and raised in Tonawanda, Mark attended St. Andrew’s Country Day School, St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Canisius College.  In 1988, a family friend on the Board of Directors for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, asked if he might help in the planning process for a concept store for the organization. He then was approached to manage the store project as an employee, then asked to consider becoming the executive director for the Society of St. Vincent De Paul. Mark was named as Society CEO in 2016. He is the longest-serving ED of any council in the USA.
His current duties include the management of the entire organization which includes retail stores, a central warehouse and a dining room; develop and implement controls, plans and procedures with bottom line budget responsibility; promote the organization, direct member activities, conduct presentations to the community, coordinate Society events, promote volunteer activities and monitor issues that concern our organization. The St. Vincent DePaul Society’s scope takes in the entire Western New York area and is its’ oldest continuously active charitable organization with over 700 active members. Mark is or has been involved with numerous area organizations including the CYO, NYS Catholic Conference, Canisius College, WNY Coalition for the Homeless, West Side Jaycees, United Way Day of Caring, St. Andrew Parish, Catholic Urban Outreach Network, St. Joseph Collegiate Institute, and more. He has received the Manus Christi award [Hands of Christ] from the Catholic Youth Department, St. Andrew Country Day School Volunteer Service Award, Developmentally Disabled Awareness Community Service award as well as membership in the Br. Alexander chapter of the National Honor Society in addition to being a member of the Signum Fidei Society at St. Joseph’s Collegiate and Canisius College chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu.
